For the 16th time in 17 years, Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company of Michigan has been named by the Ward Group as one of the 50 most outstanding life insurers in America, based on strength, stability, and outstanding financial performance.

Ward's annual top-50 list recognizes life insurance companies for outstanding achievement in the areas of safety, consistency, and overall top performance. Farm Bureau Life is one of only a handful of American companies to earn the honor so consistently year after year.

The Ward Group, a national monitor of the American insurance industry, analyzes over 900 life insurance companies every year before naming its top 50.

A.M. Best Company issues ratings

June, 2009
Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company of Michigan has maintained its Excellent (A) rating from A.M. Best Company.

The affirmation of this rating reflects our excellent level of capitalization and our consistently favorable operating earnings performance.

Our two Property-Casualty companies, Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Company of Michigan and Farm Bureau General Insurance Company of Michigan, have maintained their Excellent (A-) ratings.

"The rating is based on the consolidated solid capitalization of the two companies," a spokesman for A.M. Best said. "The rating reflects Farm Bureau Mutual's and Farm Bureau General's favorable operating earnings, and strong market presence in Michigan."

A.M. Best Company is the oldest, most experienced rating agency in the world and has been reporting on the financial condition of insurance companies since 1899. Best's Ratings represent the current and independent opinion of a company's financial strength and ability to meet obligations to policyholders. American Cancer Society -- Great Lakes Division
The American Cancer Society (ACS) is at work throughout Michigan and Indiana, fighting cancer, finding answers, and helping people. Through research, education, and treatment programs, the ACS Great Lakes Division is saving lives and working towards the goal of a cancer-free world. Farm Bureau Insurance contributes towards this goal by sponsoring fund-raising golf tournaments that have helped raise millions of dollars for Michigan's fight against cancer.

Michigan Farm Radio Network (MFRN)
As the voice of agriculture in Michigan, the Michigan Farm Radio Network has affiliate stations across the state. Besides the latest news on what's happening in agriculture, the network provides up-to-the minute market reports. Farm Bureau Insurance has long been a partner with the network, especially as longtime sponsor of the popular Noon Farm Show, the most listened-to farm report in the state.

Michigan Fitness Foundation
The Michigan Fitness Foundation is a private, non-profit corporation. It was established by the Governor's Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports. Its purpose is to raise and administer funds to carry out the projects of the Council, and generally to promote physical fitness for the citizens of Michigan. One of the programs administered by the Michigan Fitness Foundation is ACES.

Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA)
This is the service organization for high school sports in Michigan. Over 700 high schools and 600 junior high/middle schools comprise the MHSAA, providing athletic opportunities for tens of thousands of Michigan young people. The MHSAA promotes high school athletics and protects the educational integrity of the activities. Farm Bureau Insurance is a major sponsor of MHSAA tournaments and scholarships.

NEWSCENTER 6 has been providing news, weather, and sports information to the Mid-Michigan area for the past 50 years from their studios located in Lansing. Through a partnership with Farm Bureau Insurance, NEWSCENTER 6 introduced STORMTRACKER 6 DOPPLER RADAR in May, 2000, providing a faster and more accurate way to warn of severe weather.
